“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart.. I'll always be with you.”
~A.A. Milne, from "Winnie the Pooh"

Thankfulness

Dearest Liddy,
I read a blog post written by a new friend last night after I finished writing the last one here. In a nut shell, it was about being thankful for the people in our lives who support us, day in day out, through the good, the bad and the sometimes ugly. We have been especially blessed in that area. Even though you often have moments of standoffishness, you are so immensely LOVED. Even though I worry about them being unable to show you that love in the ways that they would choose to, hugs and kisses and cuddles, I know that their love for you doesn't depend on whether you let them hold you or if you cry when they touch you. Their love doesn't rely on you doing everything other babies do when other babies do it. It doesn't expect that things will be easy, or all roses and sunshine. It just is.
These people that Mommy loves so much have supported all of us. They've always been a good family, good friends...but their true colors have shone through the last year. They have cried with me, laughed with me, prayed for us, eaten up every little picture I have taken of you (since the very first ones when you were a tiny bean in my tummy), let me vent when it was needed, given advice when asked, and celebrated each and every victory, no matter how seemingly small. They have visited, called, and offered nothing but amazing, life-changing acceptance of you, as well as the rest of us. There aren't words for how grateful I am.
I'm grateful for every single comment, every single word of encouragement, every single thought. Every celebration of the mundane. I don't know how many people are coming to sit with us at your upcoming surgery (somehow I think its going to be a LOT!) but I am thankful for every single person who is willing to take time out of their busy lives to come sit with us, hold our hands, pray, and or even just be with us in spirit as we all go through what I am sure will be the hardest day of our lives so far.
I know that you are amazing, but I am glad that so many other people see it too. I know I am going to spend your entire life making sure that you know just how truly blessed you are.
So to all of Lydia's biggest fans, we love you......more than words can say. Thank you for all of you do. It does not go unnoticed. And it shouldn't go un-recognized either.

XOXOXO, Mommy

Today's Gentle Reminder....

Dearest Liddy,
I had a short visit with Aunt Amanda this evening. And I went to see her by myself. lol It's really pretty strange to be going somewhere semi-far away, without any one with me. True, its only half an hour but it seems as if someone is always with me. Typically you. You love to go bye-bye so unless I am just running somewhere for a second, I usually just take you with me.

It is a beautiful night tonight, after a hot and steamy day. I drove beneath the star strewn sky with the windows down and a cool breeze blowing. I have a confession to make..Three things make me truly at peace....sitting on the porch, having sandy feet, and driving on a beautiful day with the radio turned up (usually singing lol). Remember how we talked about songs? Well, this is the song of the day.....

Details In The Fabric ~ Jason Mraz

Calm down
Deep breaths
And get yourself dressed instead
Of running around
And pulling on your threads
And breaking yourself up

If it's a broken part, replace it
If it's a broken arm, then brace it
If it's a broken heart, then face it

And hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way
Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way

And everything will be fine

Hang on
Help is on the way
And stay strong
I'm doing everything

Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way
Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way

And everything, everything will be fine
Everything

Are the details in the fabric
Are the things that make you panic
Are your thoughts results of static cling?

Are the things that make you blow
Hell, no reason, go on and scream
If you're shocked it's just the fault
Of faulty manufacturing.

Everything will be fine
Everything in no time at all
Everything

Hold your own
And know your name
And go your own way

Are the details in the fabric (Hold your own, know your name)
Are the things that make you panic
Are your thoughts results of static cling? (Go your own way)

Are the details in the fabric (Hold your own, know your name)
Are the things that make you panic (Go your own way)
Is it Mother Nature's sewing machine?

Are the things that make you blow (Hold your own, know your name)
Hell no reason go on and scream
If you're shocked it's just the fault (Go your own way)
Of faulty manufacturing

Everything will be fine
Everything in no time at all
Hearts will hold

This song touches me, deep in the most hidden parts of my heart and mind. It gives me a soft and gentle reminder to, in essence, not sweat the small stuff. I need that reminder every once in a while, because I tend to wind myself up in a tizzy over the fine details. This week it's vacation. lol

I have been endlessly making lists in my head for days now. I found that it is harder to figure out what to take for YOU to wear than it is to decide for me. After all, you ARE a diva, and should be dressed to the nines in the cutest clothes that Mommy (or anyone else for that matter lol) can find, with a matching bow of course! Then I have to make sure that we have all the other little details of what to take with us to adequately take care of you in a strange place. We know where the hospital is (better safe than sorry), and I am planning on packing a myriad of stuff for just in case. We have to take enough formula, cooking oil, and sugar to mix up your formula...and cereal to fatten it up even more. Those are things that I probably could buy once we're there in all honesty, but I just can't let go of the what if's. What if you wake up while we're on the road and are hungry? What if  we start to run out of premixed while we're waiting to check in to our condo? Did we get strong enough sunblock? Do we have your favorite blanket, toys and pacifiers? Should we take your bathtub? Should we take your swing, your bouncy chair, or your Bumbo seat? Gosh, I had forgotten what it's like to travel with a little baby.
This song gave me the little reminder that I need to slow down, take a deep breath, and let a few things go. Its not so much the details that matter but living in the moment..without worries. Because, would it be the end of the world if I forgot to pack the baby tylenol, or a bottle brush? They DO have stores there. lol As long as I don't forget you or Daddy, everything is going to be just fine. :)
I love you, baby girl. And I could NEVER forget you! :)
